Our Team

When seeing us expect a 5 star experience, focused and attentive holistic health care, honest and empathetic feedback and a practitioner dedicated to helping you.

Chiropractic

We are an experienced and skilful team who work to deliver the best chiropractic care to match your needs.

We have spent the past 8 years distilling down an approach which we believe is one of the best in the industry to help transform our clients life experience.

We use gentle techniques, focusing on reducing the physical tension on our nervous system through breath, movement, focused energy and light adjustments to the spine, cranium and pelvis.

We understand the desire to improve your wellbeing, and the frustration felt when time isn’t available for self care. Having worked with clients across industries and ages we acknowledge there is a common frustration to not have the time to support your wellbeing in its entirety, whether that is due to work or family commitments, energy levels or habitual behaviour which are hard to change. We partner with you to help you feel as good as possible, our team taking care of your alignment, movement and tension whilst providing you with ‘easy wins’ around lifestyle advice, as well as breathing techniques and grounding strategies.

I can identify the exact moment when I became aware of the “spine” and of its importance. It was the moment I was shown an Xray at age 15 of my full spine, the black and white image showed a ghost like contorted bony column in a bowing right curve. And, as the surgeon held out a spine in front of me, and proceeded to squash it into a greater curve, all I heard was “And with time it’s going to do is this…” ( * he proceeded to squash and increase the curve.)  I was told I had scoliosis and that I had no choice but to have major spinal surgery, where one of the options was going to “saw through my ribs” to fix metal into my spine…

It was this moment where the importance of “The Spine” first came onto my radar. And interestingly- I had no pain whatsoever.

Fast forward 6 years and life had shown me once again the importance of a healthy spine and nervous system, but this time it was through riding and working racehorses. I saw and could feel how the horse’s movement, mood and ability had changed since “the back lady” had been working on them. I found out the “back lady” was in fact a Chiropractor who told me in no uncertain terms, that I should become a Chiropractor and that it would change my life.

I graduated 5 years later from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. Since then, my career has involved honing my skill and understanding on how to guide people to experience the change which I know is possible. I love that I can offer an alternative to terrifying surgery and hopelessness, and to support my clients to live a life of confidence, with trust in one’s own ability to overcome disease, pain or injury.

Through the past 9 years of working as a full time Chiropractor, only pausing for a short time to have my two boys, I have dug deeper into understanding the healing journey and have an ever-evolving understanding of human beings potential and ability to heal. Why is it that some people experience such extreme pain with no significant physical injury? Why do some people experience whole body changes within 3 Chiropractic visits and others take months to experience the same effect? How can one woman give birth easily and naturally and recover, while another loses all emotional stability and physical strength?

I could go on…

But to put it simply where I stand now on the matter of healing is that:

Everyone heals in their own way and it is directly dependent on the energy available within them as to how easily changes can be felt and made.

We all have “life tension”: a build-up of physical and physiological stress response from multiple micro and macro traumas. Both physically, emotionally and spiritually we are all mostly incredibly resilient to “just keep going”. My role with my clients becomes paramount when new strategies are needed. The runaway train of stress and life tension can lead to long list of symptoms, not least pain, digestive issues, sleep problems, anxiety and a poor immune system. Using my experience through adjusting over 1000 people, using spinal tonal techniques, gentle unwinding of the pelvis and a particular focus on the cranium: I have learnt how to increase the mind and body connection. Our approach works through gentle specific touch and; as the brain perceives an ‘inner safety’ and more spinal movement and neurological feedback, our clients can start to rebuild their inner resilience, feel calm and heal their pain.

We do recognise at Ethereal Health that human beings are each individual, but we all have the fundamental need to: feel safe, to feel physically and emotionally free from over whelming stress; and that our nervous system can coordinate incredible changes if it has the time, energy and strategies to do so.

To be clear: I did not have the operation, but I have successfully maintained a healthy spine over the years with Chiropractic, even working a physical job and having children!

Alistair Kitchener

Doctor of Chiropractic

My journey as a Chiropractor started in my late 20’s, I worked as a personal trainer for many years but started noting road blocks for people who, for reasons I didn’t yet understand, just could not improve their health, vitality or shift injuries. It wasn’t until I started working with Chiropractor and referring my clients to her, that I realised that the human body is not simply a system of pullies and levers. In fact, the so often targeted musculature and soft tissue system does nothing without the control of the central nervous system, which is housed and protected within the spine, pelvis and cranium.

With this realisation that exercise alone barely scratches the surface in healing ones deep wounds, I knew I needed a change of direction. I no longer subscribed to the notion that one can exercise their way out of injury.

And so, I embarked on the 4 year Mchiro Masters Degree at Mctimoney College of Chiropractic in Oxfordshire. Mctimoney College is a wonderful place to learn Chiropractic, it’s an unassuming building in the middle of a market town in Oxfordshire and if you didn’t know what it was, it would be very easy to miss. But what it lacks in physical presence, it more than makes up for in spirit, proudly teaching the foundation principles of chiropractic and exploring multiple techniques. I believe it instilled a passion for chiropractic, and an openness to life long learning which has allowed me to hone my skill set to what it is today.

Since graduating, I have been drawn towards what’s known as tonal techniques. These very gentle, but extremely powerful techniques aim to liberate one’s own ability to regulate and heal, it aims to allow the brain and body to process deeply stored emotion and trauma. It aims to facilitate connection, first to oneself, and then to community and finally to the expansive natural world that we live in, and sometimes even beyond. Through the energetic exchange of each adjustment, my aim is to reduce the physical tension through the spine so that the nervous system can regulate more effectively.

My aim with every client I see is to move the conversation forward for them. To interrupt the downward spiral of pain – stress – decline into rest- revive – ease. So many people feel stuck in the cycle of pain, pain killers and investigations… Whatever the situation is, stagnation is the enemy of change and with the techniques we use at Ethereal Health you can move forward closer to a more healed you and ultimately happier life.
